Duck River One Day Outing

Group Leaders / Additional Information: The Duck is the longest river contained entirely in Tennessee, and it is surely one of the most crooked rivers anywhere. Nationally recognized as one the most bio-diverse rivers in the United States with over 150 species of fish. In the month of August water levels will be lower than normal, allowing more opportunities for wading up and down river at Henry Horton State Park, also at Milltown Dam. Be aware of intermittent canoe traffic taking out at Henry Horton, especially during weekend. The best way to fish the duck is in a canoe or kayak. There is a 7-mile trip from Hopkins Bridge to the park (Duck River Canoe Rental) and a 5-mile trip from Milltown to River Rats Canoe rental. (See rental information below)  Fishing Species Largemouth, Smallmouth and ‘Red Eye’ Bass, Crappie, Channel Catfish, and a large variety of Sunfish. Carp and long nose Gar can be a really fun catch on a fly rod, too.
