Fly Fishing is not just for Trout. Here in Middle Tennessee bass fishing is a large portion of the culture and bass live everywhere. In this presentation, we are going to cover how and when to go fishing for bass and where to find them. Jen and I are lucky enough to live right in between two of the most famous bass fishing lakes in the world, Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. We are so close to the lakes we can be on the water in less than 15 minutes and you will usually find us there every afternoon. The tactics that we use to find bass in these waters are the same you can use in the reservoirs around Nashville and any small lakes and ponds you can find.
After landing his first fish in utero, Kurt was destined to fish. In 2010, Kurt started the Midwest-focused magazine a Tight Loop because he felt the Midwest was under-represented in fly fishing. Today, Kurt resides in Dover, TN where he works on a number of outdoor-related websites and magazines, including DUN magazine, a Tight Loop Magazine and Haul Magazine. When not working to promote the magazines, you can find Kurt laughing and fishing and enjoying life on just about any body of water he can legally fish.
Jen is Principal at Fly Squared Media, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of DUN Magazine and Publisher of other outdoor magazines. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Fly Fishers International and member of the Board of Directors for AFFTA. When not on the water, she spends her time empowering women in fly fishing by teaching fly tying and fly casting clinics, speaking nationwide on issues regarding women in fly fishing and devoting her time to conservation efforts through nonprofits. A sounding board for women in this currently male-dominated sport, Jen has created a home base for women worldwide through DUN to connect and engage in the art of fly fishing.
